What does this course teach?
This course is aimed at pet dog owners and is about learning skills to have fun with their dog.
We will be teaching your dog to find the scent of red KONG, and once they have found it, they will learn to freeze over it to tell you they have found it.
This course teaches the foundations of odor recognition, searching and indication.
By the end of the foundations your dog will be able to do a 3 box search, search at a height and chairs. This course will also be updated with progression ideas for your dog.
Why Teach Scentwork?
Scentwork is a fun, engaging game for your dog which channels their nose and gives them a job to do.
It also teaches your Whippet that you are part of searching for scents, which can help increase their focus on you around distractions on walks.
It is great for creating confidence as your dog learns to confidently navigate areas and distractions and helps them learn to problem solve, helping them focus better and listen more in the real world. It is perfect for those fair weather Whippets who may not want to get up and walk either!
Who is this suitable for?
This course is suitable for dogs from puppyhood to seniorhood, it is gentle and low energy. Be aware a puppy under 6 months may have more interest in biting some of the equipment though! But it is not impossible, I did much of Arkle's scentwork foundations as a puppy.

-Kong Flyer or Kong (MUST BE RED OFFICIAL KONG!!)
-Scent Tins - 3-4 Tins minimum
-Pieces of Red Kong
-Cardboard Boxes
- Magnets or magnetic Kong Tins
Where to Buy Scent Equipment:
Scent Tin DIY OPTION- You can purchase tins on amazon puncture holes into the tin lids yourself. As well as buying mini magnets to go in them.
